Advent Thoughts: A Great Anticipation
by Rev. Josiah Katumu

What are you anticipating the most this Advent season?
As you watch the news and see all the brokenness in the world, do you ever wonder when evil will ultimately be defeated? I long for that day, when Jesus will “crush Satan under our feet” (Rom 16:20). In the meantime, Jesus promises to be with us through it all. He entered our suffering, by being born as a man. He endured every trial, even death on the cruel cross, yet without sin so he could sympathize with us in our suffering. We are not alone because he is our Immanuel, “God with us”. I hope this advent season you will long for Him. As you go through different life`s trials, remember his promise to you from Isaiah 43:1-3

“But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
3
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
