What is the Gospel?

2) By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3) For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 5) and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6) After that, he appeared to more than five hundred….(I Corinthians 15:2-6)
What is the Gospel? In case you’ve forgotten or have become confused, allow me to state the gospel quite clearly: The gospel may be expressed in a single word: “Christ.” Or, if you wish, we could state the gospel in five words – “good news, in Jesus Christ.”
However, to understand the gospel more fully, here are 50 words that helps us to better understand the gospel of Jesus Christ:

(3-9) God the infinite spirit becomes a human,
(10-13) to share his love:
(14-18) he lives a perfect life;
(19-23) he dies a substitute death;
(24-27) he rises to heaven;
(28-32) and he promises to return,

(38-43) to anyone who turns from sin,
(44-50) and who places their confidence in Him.”

Thank you for sending Christ into the world to forgive me for all that I’ve done wrong. Please grant me the grace to stop trusting in my own goodness and to trust more fully in Christ and his promises of everlasting life for all who are trusting in him.
